Our Ministries

Breakfast Club

A small team of volunteers from Gilmore Church supports the local community by serving breakfast to Gilmore Primary School kids once a week during school term. We take great pleasure in blessing up to 46 kids with this ministry every week and welcome the opportunity to give back to the school that supports our presence every week.

Mission Support

We support and partner men of God to obey Jesus’ commission to ‘go into all the world and preach the good news to all creation’ (Mark 16:15).

Each month we support David and Angela Armstrong as they minister to Aboriginal people in Mount Druitt and Chan and Ran Park as they minister to Kurdish people in Armenia.

Prison Ministry

We visit the Alexander Maconochie Centre each week to minister to prisoners and to conduct a regular Aboriginal-focused chapel service.

Good Pathways

We support Yeddung Mura (Good Pathways) Aboriginal Corporation. Yeddung Mura aims to relieve disadvantage in the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander community in the ACT and surrounding region by providing ‘good pathways’ to clients facing unemployment, poverty, homelessness and hopelessness. Gilmore Church helps reintegrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait prison inmates back into the community after they have served their sentences because we believe everyone deserves a second chance.

Discipleship

Being a disciple of Christ and his teachings is the foundation of Christianity. He taught that we need to be baptised in water (as He was) to symbolise a cleansing from sin, repentance, rebirth into a new life of faith and to be filled with the power of the Holy Spirit.

Women’s ministry

Our women’s ministry is forging strong friendships and support for each other in our Christian walks. We meet periodically for dinner, to share testimonies and listen to guest speakers.

Pastoral care

Home and hospital visits are a regular part of our pastoral care ministry. All personal concerns are kept confidential. We can also arrange provision of meals for our sick or needy families.

Men’s ministry – iron sharpens iron

Our men’s ministry meets fortnightly on Thursdays at 7:30 pm for fellowship, prayer and Bible study. We focus on how to be a Christian man in today’s world. We are a strong and committed group of mates and brothers in Christ. We also meet periodically for dinner at local restaurants, and we organise a men’s retreat weekend once a year.

Bible study groups

We have small home-based Bible study groups that meet regularly. 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month at 10.30 am in Rivett – teachings from Pastor Ross and Barbara on Christian living, followed by a light lunch and fellowship. Thursday, 6:30 pm at Gilmore primary school – fortnightly gathering to dive deeper on 1 Thessalonians (Verse by verse Bible study)

Prayer and intercession

Prayer brings answers. We have a prayer meeting every Tuesday evening between 6.30 pm and 8.00 pm, where we earnestly ‘stand in the gap’ for those who need prayer. And I tell you, ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you (Luke 11:9) If you need prayer please get in touch with us.
